🐳 Top 10 holders: why concentration matters

The top 10 holders figure is the share of a coin's supply held by its ten biggest wallets. It is one of the fastest ways to see how much power a few people have over the price.

Why it matters

  • If ten wallets hold most of the supply, a couple of them selling can crash the price, and there may not be enough buyers to absorb it.
  • Concentrated coins are easy to push up and easy to dump.
  • A wide spread of holders means no single seller can do as much damage on their own.

What counts as concentrated

There is no official line, and it depends on the coin's age. As a rough guide, the top 10 holding more than 40% is worth caution, and more than 60% means a small group effectively controls the coin.

The pump.fun caveat

Before a pump.fun coin graduates, its unsold tokens sit in the bonding curve, and after graduation in the liquidity pool. Those accounts can show up as "holders" but are not people who can dump on you. Good holder tools leave them out; if a tool shows one holder with a huge share, check whether it is the curve or pool.

Read it with other signs

  • Who are the top holders: the dev, snipers, bundled wallets?
  • Are they buying or selling right now?
  • Is the share falling over time as more people buy in?

No. Supply can be spread across many wallets that one person controls (see bundled launches and wallet farms).

Why does the number change so fast on new coins?

Early on there are few holders, so every buy and sell moves the share a lot. It settles as more people hold.
